Policy on the use of AI

The editorial board of the journal «World of Finance» determines approaches to the use of artificial intelligence technologies taking into account modern international standards and norms of academic ethics. The use of generative artificial intelligence and other tools based on it is allowed for authors, reviewers and editors, provided that the principles set out in the COPE recommendations (https://publicationethics.org/cope-focus/artificial-intelligence) on the use of artificial intelligence, the provisions of academic integrity enshrined in the Law of Ukraine «On Education», as well as internal regulatory documents of the West Ukrainian National University regulating the use of AI in educational and scientific activities (https://www.wunu.edu.ua/past-and-present/academic-integrity/16284-akademchna-dobrochesnst.html).

The use of artificial intelligence tools should be carried out exclusively as an auxiliary tool with the mandatory provision of proper human control. Responsibility for the content, reliability, and scientific correctness of the materials lies entirely with the entities using such technologies.

Authors' use of AI

The permissible areas of use of generative artificial intelligence and tools based on it in the process of preparing scientific publications include:

  • editing the language design of the text in order to improve its clarity, stylistic consistency and eliminate grammatical errors;
  • supporting support during the processing and systematization of bibliographic sources;
  • translating the text while maintaining the content accuracy and scientific correctness of the presentation.

In case of using such technologies, authors are obliged to properly inform about it in their publications. In particular, on the last page of the article it is necessary to indicate the name of the tool used (for example, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, NovelAI, Jasper AI, Rytr AI, DALL•E, Grammarly, etc.), its developer, version or settings, as well as describe the nature of use and the approximate volume of material generated with the involvement of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of scientific work, and are not subject to citation as independent sources.

Responsibility for the scientific level, reliability, correctness of the presented results and adherence to the principles of academic integrity lies entirely with the authors, regardless of the fact of using artificial intelligence technologies.

Failure to report the use of relevant tools or deliberate concealment of such use is considered a violation of ethical standards of scientific activity.

Use of AI by reviewers

Reviewers have the right to use artificial intelligence tools exclusively as an auxiliary tool, in particular to improve the language design of their own texts, as well as to check the correctness of the design of references and basic bibliographic information.

At the same time, the following restrictions are set for reviewers:

  • it is prohibited to transfer manuscripts submitted for review or their fragments to generative artificial intelligence systems, as this may lead to a violation of the principle of confidentiality and intellectual property rights of authors;
  • it is not allowed to use artificial intelligence to conduct scientific analysis, expert evaluation or comparison of the content of manuscripts;
  • it is prohibited to use such technologies to prepare reviews, conclusions or recommendations regarding the possibility of publication.

The reviewer bears personal responsibility for the validity, objectivity and content of the prepared review.

Using AI in editorial work

The manuscript submitted to the editorial office is considered a restricted material and is subject to strict confidentiality. In this regard, editors are not allowed to transfer the manuscript or its individual parts to any generative artificial intelligence services.

During the peer review of materials and making decisions on their publication or rejection, the use of artificial intelligence tools is not allowed. All editorial decisions are made exclusively by the responsible persons of the editorial office based on the results of the review and professional judgment.

The editorial board reserves the right to independently determine the admissibility of the use of artificial intelligence technologies within the editorial process, as well as to refuse publication or apply appropriate measures after publication in cases of detection of unreliable, falsified or dishonestly generated AI content.
